How can I add overlap between different activities?

Enable overlapping tasks to reduce idle time and increase scheduling flexibility.

To create overlap between two different tasks in the schedule view:

  1. Select the task you want to overlap
  1. Edit the links:
      • In the side panel, navigate to the plan tab.
      • Click on Edit links
      • Select the predecessor you want to overlap your task with.
      • Adjust the lag by clicking the arrows or typing the number of days you want between tasks.
        • Positive lags indicate the number of days your task will overlap with the selected predecessor.
        • Negative lags delay the task, causing it to start the specified number of days after the predecessor finishes.
  1. Save and review: After saving, your task will reflect the added lag and automatically adjust in the schedule view.

Pro tip: To apply lags between two tasks across all zones, use the "duplicate link throughout phase" option by clicking the three dots on the desired link.

You can also create overlaps between consecutive tasks through takt settings:

  1. Navigate to takt settings
  1. Access the task properties of the task you want to overlap with its predecessor
  1. In the overlap section, adjust the value in the "days overlapping with predecessor" field
