To define zones in your project:
- Navigate to takt settings: Go to the phase where you want to add zones.
- In the "Areas" section, create or choose the area you want to add zones to and click the plus (+) icon next to the Area label.
- Name your zones:
- Use clear labels (e.g., Floor 2 East, Zone A, Core Level 1).
Pro Tips:
- Start with work density: Using a visual heatmap or tally sheet to estimate labor hours or scope by area. Zones should have relatively equal effort across them.
- Avoid mixing trades: Define zones so that each trade can stay within one area without jumping around. Jumping = chaos.
- Use natural boundaries: Walls, corridors, and structural elements make for intuitive zones. Don’t force arbitrary lines.
- Minimize backtracking: A well-defined zone allows teams to work left-to-right or top-to-bottom in one pass.
- Test flow feasibility: Can the zone be handed off cleanly every takt cycle? If not, rethink it.
