Crew Sizes at Subtask Level

Set crew sizes per subtask to plan labor more precisely.

📊 Crew Size Management at Subtask Level

🎯 Overview

The crew size functionality introduces the ability to assign and manage workforce sizes at the subtask level, providing more granular control and precision over manpower planning. This allows users to accurately reflect the real labor allocation across their work plan and visualize the resulting crew histogram across time and zone.

✅ Key Capabilities

1. Adding Crew Sizes at Subtask Level

  • Crew sizes can now be added directly to subtasks within the work plan or takt settings.
  • When adding a crew size to a subtask, a clear message is shown explaining that this will override the parent task's crew size display.
  • Once set, the parent task's crew size is computed as the sum of its subtasks’ crew sizes for each day and it’ll be visible in the workforce view.

2. Visualizing Crew Sizes in the Schedule

  • In the workforce view, if a task's subtasks have crew sizes, the parent task shows a breakdown or subtotal per day/per phase, allowing you to see variations.
  • Each task’s crew size is visualized, and their cumulative effect is shown in the Workforce View histogram.

  • Units Tab: Units Tab: displays subtask crew sizes when configured; the parent crew size field becomes read-only. An option to revert to parent task crew size is available.

3. Parent vs. Subtask Conflict Handling

  • You cannot have crew sizes assigned to both parent and subtasks simultaneously:
    • Assigning to subtasks hides the parent’s crew size field and shifts control to the subtasks.
    • Assigning to the parent will prompt a warning that subtasks' crew sizes will be removed.
  • Warnings and tooltips clarify these impacts to prevent accidental overwrites or confusion.

🔍 Advanced Functionality

4. Filter-Aware Histogram

  • Filters applied (e.g. zone, trade, task type) update the histogram and schedule view dynamically to reflect only the relevant crew size data.

5. Bulk Edit Support

  • Multi-selecting tasks in Schedule View allows bulk crew size entry for parent tasks.
  • A warning is shown if any selected tasks already have subtask-level crew sizes, and an "Overwrite Subtasks" option appears.

🧠 Best Practices

  • Use subtask crew sizing when different trades or sequential efforts require distinct manpower.
  • Maintain clarity by choosing a single level (parent or subtask) to assign crew sizes on any task.
  • Leverage bulk editing for repetitive updates and alignments across similar task groups.
