Deleting/Dissolving tasks

Delete a task and auto-link its predecessors to its successors.

🔄 Guide to the Dissolve Task Feature

The Dissolve function in InTakt automatically preserves task logic when you delete a task by intelligently reconnecting its surrounding dependencies. This saves time and prevents errors when updating your plan.

🧭 What Is “Dissolve”?

When you delete a task in InTakt:

  • Instead of breaking the logic flow, InTakt automatically reconnects the preceding and following tasks.
  • It uses smart logic to decide the cleanest way to relink, minimizing clutter and avoiding redundant ties.

What Happens When You Dissolve a Task?

Let’s say you have this flow:

If you delete the middle Task (A2):

  • InTakt will automatically link the A1 and B directly to E and A3.
  • Any added relationships you had (like G-links or Finish-Start ties) are factored in when re-linking.

This preserves the flow without manual rework.

When to Use It

  • You’re cleaning up your plan and removing temporary or outdated tasks.
  • You’re simplifying handoffs between trades or phases.
  • You’re reorganizing task flow and want logic to auto-adjust cleanly.

🛠️ How to Use It

  1. Select the task you want to remove.
  1. Click Delete.
  1. InTakt will automatically handle the logic re-linking.

💡 Pro Tip

Use the Show Relationships toggle before deleting to visualize the logic and confirm the task’s role. This gives you confidence in what will happen when you dissolve it.

This feature helps you maintain a clean, logic-driven plan—without the hassle of manually redrawing dependencies.
