📊 Schedule Variances & Delay Tracking in InTakt
InTakt gives you powerful tools to track real-time schedule performance, monitor handoffs, and understand where and why delays occur—all while preserving takt flow visibility.
🚦 Progress Status & Lock Line
- The lock line shows the current working window.
- Tasks inside the shaded window are expected to be in progress or complete.
- When tasks within this zone are delayed (e.g. its duration is modified), InTakt will prompt for a reason for variance before updates are saved.
📥 Tracking Clean Handoffs
To mark handoffs on a task, click on the task and navigate to the handoffs section in the Track tab of the side panel.
Each task goes through three steps:
- Done — Completed by the trade.
- Received — Acknowledged by the next trade.
- Approved — Verified by a supervisor (e.g., GC or PM).
✅ Once all three are marked, the task turns gray, indicating a successful handoff.
🧾 Logging Delay Reasons
- When extending task durations or pushing tasks forward:
- InTakt prompts you to choose a delay reason (e.g., inspection issue, material delay).
- You can also add custom notes for detailed tracking.
📈 Variance Reporting
Accessible through the Reports tab, the variance dashboard includes:
- Percent Clean Handoffs
Week-by-week and cumulative stats.

- Variance by Task
Shows which repeated tasks most often caused delays—helpful for identifying systemic issues.

- Variance by Reason
Groups delays by root cause (e.g., weather, inspections, labor availability), revealing trends across the project.

🧠 Best Practices
- Encourage trades to mark "done" immediately to track progress in real time.
- Review variance reports weekly in team huddles.
- Use delay reason trends to inform recovery plans and procurement strategy.
