Zone maps

Take a look at our awesome zone maps!

InTakt Zone Maps Feature Guide

The Zone Maps feature provides a visual, interactive way to monitor and manage work progress across different areas of a project. It allows teams to overlay task assignments on actual floorplans or area drawings, offering spatial awareness of what work is happening, where, and when.

1. Accessing Zone Maps

  • Navigate to the Zone Maps tab from the main project interface.
  • The system will generate a separate page for each zone in your project (typically floors or large work areas).

2. Uploading and Aligning Drawings

  • Click the drawing upload icon at the top of the interface.
  • Select a floor plan or area image to represent the zone.
  • Use zoom tools or the scroll bar to adjust the drawing size.
  • Drag the image to position it appropriately within the view.
  • Click Done to complete the upload.
  • The platform will optimize image quality dynamically as you zoom.

3. Mapping Areas to the Drawing

  • Tap on any zone page to start placing and resizing mapped areas.
  • Each area corresponds to an area previously created in Takt Settings.
  • Resize and position area shapes using draggable nodes.
  • Double-click to add new nodes and create complex shapes.
  • Labels can be repositioned to avoid overlapping visual elements.

4. Navigating and Refining the Map

  • Use snapping features to align nodes with each other and straighten lines.
  • Resize mapped areas for precision or general reference.
  • You can iterate to as much or as little visual detail as needed.

5. Visualizing Schedule Over Time and Animating Progress

📽 HelpKit Note: Self-uploaded videos are supported on the HelpKit Professional plan. Please upgrade or use a third party video provider such as Youtube, Wistia or Vimeo.

Zone maps bring the takt schedule to life through animated, time-based visualizations:

  • A printable timeline from start to finish runs beneath the map view.
  • Takt wagons (task groups moving through zones) appear dynamically.
  • When you press Play, wagons animate across zones based on the takt schedule.
  • Diagonal striping signals multiple crews working in the same zone concurrently (e.g., HVAC and Fire Suppression).
  • The animation shows how crews move through the building over time—like a "train of trains" visualization.

This is especially useful during trade coordination and pull plan meetings:

  • You can visualize potential handoff issues or overcrowding.
  • Crews and superintendents can better understand their sequence and timing.
  • You can switch between phases or jump to specific dates for scenario planning.

Other features include:

  • Toggle labels on/off for a cleaner or more descriptive view.
  • Display resolved or unresolved roadblocks spatially.

This interactive simulation is a favorite among trade partners, offering a clear picture of who’s working where and when—and how that impacts others.

6. View Modes and Multi-Floor Coordination

  • Switch between single-floor view and grid view to see multiple floors at once.
  • Navigate through time and phases to visualize execution by date.
  • Great for aligning facade work or other tasks spread across vertical levels.

Zone Maps transform static plans into dynamic visual coordination tools. They make it easy for planners and field teams to align efforts, identify constraints, and communicate clearly—at a glance.
